On Hiatus – But Who Am I Kidding? Once A Knicks Fan, Always A Knicks Fan.
My book SPEAK FLUENT MAN will be dropping in the coming months, so I have been taking a break from writing my Trash Talk blog for a while so I can concentrate on the finishing touches. I want to be sure the release is a huge success and I am very excited to be in the home stretch. However, you better believe I will be back to my regular trash talking antics soon with plenty to say about whats happening in the world of basketball. This season SUCKS for the Knicks, and the Eastern Conference in comparison to the West is just embarrassing. Good thing I might be moving to LA in the next couple of years. But who am I kidding? Once a Knicks fan, always a Knicks fan.

READ MOREYOU KNOW I’M ALWAYS RIGHT SOMETIMES – WELCOME HOME LEBRON
If you are familiar with me, then you already know that I love and respect Lebron as a player, but the Knicks is my team. I have already spoken, written, and tweeted about how I feel about everybody disregarding the Knicks like they are doomed to fail this season. It’s disrespectful. Its especially disrespectful to our healthy Knicks superstar in his prime, Carmelo Anthony.
Needless to say, I was thrilled to see Carmelo and the Knicks outshine the King’s homecoming and beat the Cavs on their floor. I’d say that’s pretty impressive, especially considering the entire arena and the entire state of Ohio was on the floor the entire game as Cleveland’s Sixth man.
The bandwagon is leaving soon for all you Knicks flip-floppers. Get on board. My prediction that the Knicks will make the playoffs this season (landing at least a 7th or 8th seed in the East) is very real. You know I’m always right sometimes. WELCOME HOME LEBRON.

READ MOREShort and Sweet Today
What’s up my faithful favorites! Im going to keep it short and sweet today. I will speak briefly on my recent appearance on the Bottomline Sports Show (NBA Sirius XM) in which I defended my tweets about the Knicks making the playoffs. The bottom line is, when you do not expect the Knicks to do well, they excel. When you expect the Knicks to excel, they crumble. Screw your stats and mark my words, New York will see at least a 7th or 8th seed in the Eastern Conference Finals this year, and the credit will go to all of you haters. Well, not just the haters. I’m sure credit will also go to Carmelo Anthony, The Zen Master Phil Jackson, and of course, the Triangle Offense. Lets just stay hopeful that our Sixth Man of the Year, (and one of my favorite Knicks players to watch) JR Smith, does not have too many off nights in which he might confuse the Triangle Offense with the ROC sign.

READ MOREMen Should Not Hit Women and Women Should Not Hit Men. That’s Real Equality.
At this point in life, one must be terrified to have a different opinion about controversial issues. I even contemplated shutting down my blog site all together just because I know my opinions are usually not typical, and who wants to deal with losing their entire life just because what they believe isn’t in line with the masses? Or, is it that some of the more unpopular opinions are in line with the masses, but the masses are too afraid to speak their mind? Well, such is the case it seems when it comes to domestic violence.
It appears to me that if a woman strikes a man, it’s not only ok, but it’s glorified and humored. Now, I dare not say that a man should hit a woman under any circumstance, but I do dare to say that a women should not hit a man under any circumstance either. It’s not funny or cute if a woman strikes a man, and if men are expected to restrain, then women should be expected to restrain as well.
When “shit went down on the elevator” in the case of the Knowles family, not only was Solange not reprimanded for her attack on Jay Z, but she was praised, jokingly being called “gangster” as if her violent rage makes her cool. Also, in recent events on the popular VH1 show Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, during their 3 part reunion show, there were many violent attacks from a few characters that did not surprise anyone. But, to me, the most surprising act of violence came from the “humorous” reenactment of Karlie Redd’s attack on Youg Jock.
When asked about their relationship, Youg Jock said that he stopped dealing with his used to be girlfriend Karlie Redd because she became physically abusive. People in the audience, as well as some cast members on stage, laughed at his statement almost immediately. He continued to reenact the events in which he claimed Karlie Redd fractured his finger. While he was describing the events, she proudly stated multiple times with a huge smile on her face, “That’s right, I did it”. Now, if we reverse this situation, and imagine Karlie Redd telling a story of how Youg Jock fractured her finger while he bragged about it with a huge smile on his face, we certainly would not have had a room full of laughter.
In the case of the Ray Rice situation in which he knocked his then fiancé (now wife) out on the elevator, I must say, I watched the video, and yes, it is hardcore. But, before I continue, I want to preface what I am about to say with, no, I do not want to encourage men to knock their women unconscious, or “Chris Brown a bitch” as some might say, by way of the claim of self defense. What I do want to encourage is for women to stop calling a man’s bluff by taking advantage of the fact that they think they can do whatever they want both physically and mentally to a man without being held accountable, or without the consideration that he might have a breaking point and could possibly kill you. Not many people will stick their head inside of an alligator without considering the fact that it might be chopped off, so basically ladies, think before you strike.
Before they entered the elevator, the video shows Ray Rice’s fiancé slapping him in the face. Then, once inside the elevator you see her hit him again in what looks like is about to be another Solange attack. But unfortunately for her, everybody is not going to react the way Jay Z reacted to his sister-in-law’s attack. Again, I must point out that not only was Solange praised and not held accountable for her attack, but Jay Z was made fun of, instead of praised, for his restraint. Even in the case of Chris Brown and Rihanna (even though we did not have video of the attack) Rihanna admitted that she was hitting Chris prior to his attacking her, but that was overlooked and Chris Brown to this day is villianized, while Rihanna is 100% victimized with no public pressure to have any accountablity for her actions. If celebrities or people who have lived these situations really want to help discourage domestic violence, then we have to allow accountability on both parts. It is not blaming the victim by pointing out the fact that she to committed a violent act against him. Especially when she is first to strike. It is only blaming the victim if a woman is beaten because of something like not having her husband’s dinner ready on time, and we say to her that she should have not been late with his dinner. However, if a man walks in the door and his wife hits him in the head with a dinner plate, shouldn’t we acknowledge that she did something wrong?
Again, I am not saying that these women deserve what they got. I absolutely do not believe that, and I acknowledge that these cases of retaliation are extreame. But, I also do not believe in taking advantage of the unwritten “men should never hit women” rule that is there to protect us women as the less dominant being. Overall, I feel that it is wrong for anyone to hit anyone in general.
In light of being released from the Ravens, several celebrities spoke out in favor of Ray Rice including living legend, comedian Woopie Goldberg, and NBA basketball star Paul George. Of course, no sooner than Paul George spoke his mind via twitter, the comments were removed and replaced by an apology. However, I not only understand where Paul George was coming from with his opinion of the Rice situation, but I also understand where he was coming from with his apology. I do not think that his apology back tracks on what he initially said, and I also do not think that his initial statement marginalized domestic violence on a whole. I believe that there is sincerity in his apology statement because I think he was basically just trying to say what many people want to say, but are too afraid; and that is, he feel both ways. Men should not hit women, and women should not hit men. That’s real equality.

READ MOREI’m All For Equality Of Course, But Things Don’t Ever Need To Be THAT Equal
The first female NBA Assistant Coach, Becky Hammon, was announced a few days ago. She was hired by the San Antonio Spurs, and at first, I was thinking to myself, oh boy, I hope she doesn’t come to the table with unrealistic goals, like the idea that there should be women players in the NBA as well.
So, before placing eye rolling judgment on my fellow female, I took a look at a few interviews and read a great article on NBA.com where she was asked about women playing in the NBA. Her response made me love her:
“People ask me all the time, will there ever be a woman player in the NBA? To be honest, no. There are differences. The guys are too big, too strong and that’s just the way it is. But when it comes to things of the mind, things like coaching, game-planning, coming up with offensive and defensive schemes, there’s no reason why a woman couldn’t be in the mix and shouldn’t be in the mix.” – Becky Hammon
Sometimes as women, we fight so hard to be equal that we forget the basic nature of things and in turn find ourselves making silly statements like, sure, Brittney Griner can play in the NBA. As if Griner will be just fine playing against and guarding players like Lebron James, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, etc etc. Um, no. As good as Griner is, she is not a man, and they will kill her. Point blank. Unless of course they played with less strength, and if so, is that really equal? Fact is, Brittney Griner will never dunk on Lebron or beat him one on one, unless he lets her, and like Hammon said, “that’s just the way it is”.
Part of our responsibility as women (if we truly want to be equal) is recognizing and accepting our differences and working without bitterness within those parameters instead of sometimes trying to force ourselves into unrealistic situations; and Becky Hammon seems to have the right idea. I am very excited for her and hope she does well, but I NEVER want to see a woman PLAYING in the NBA. I’m all for equality of course, but things don’t ever need to be THAT equal.

I Guess He Looks Down from His King James Throne and Thinks: “I forgive them because they know not what they do”
Let me preface everything I am about to say with the fact that yes, I am a Knicks fan, and no, I did not have any thoughts or hopes of Lebron James coming to New York. Im writing this with pure emotion as a supporter of Lebron James as an individual player and person, not in light of any particular team.
Now, with the breaking news of Lebron James decision to return home to Cleveland today, I must say from the bottom of my heart, I am utterly disgusted.
Im going to keep why I feel that way short and sweet. Cleveland to Lebron (in my head) is like that old bitter ex-wife that he had to divorce after trying any and everything possible to bring her to the high level in which he must operate to succeed. But when he saw that she could not live up to that high level, he moved on in what I considered a very honorable, entertaining way. Some may disagree with “The Decision”, but I disagree with how King James was treated despite all of his good deeds, good works, and good intentions for Cleveland, so lets not get into it.
So, the ex-wife (which consists of Cleveland fans, the owner, the media and anyone who turned against him, those who spoke ill words of him, and those who prayed for his demise) actually, and symbolically through other actions and words, burned his jersey in protest of his leaving like Angela Basset’s character burned her husband’s car in Waiting To Exhale. But the big difference between them and Angela Basset’s husband’s character in Waiting to Exhale, is that Lebron did nothing to deserve being demonized! He really did try, and sometimes, things just don’t work out. But, knowing his heart has and always will be at home, they should have supported his decision like a good woman would do by saying something like, “I trust you baby. I know you see the bigger picture, and although it hurts for now, go do what you have to do, and I will be here for you when you get back”.
Now, after doing everything to tear him down, the ungrateful, entitled, disloyal ex-wife gets him back? YUCK! But thats a good man for you. Going back home to help this small minded, goofy woman that he loves, despite her evil emotional ways. I guess he looks down from his King James throne and thinks: “I forgive them because they know not what they do”.
